I was browsing through the old pictures and I found a few from our beach visit this summer. Â First of all, I have this thing for licking bells. Â I am not proud of it, but it’s my vice. Â I am slowly dragging my family into my addiction as well. Â The kids will occasionally join me in the…uh…culinary experience. Â Add more ketchup and Isaac will lick anything.
Anyhow, we went to the beach at Tybee Island, GA this summer and we always visit the Tybee Island light house. Â As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, I spotted my new friend!
Part of what makes this so fun for me is the opportunity to embarrass Emily. Â Well, that day, I had the opportunity. Â You see, there was a troop of Girl Scouts who had just unloaded ahead of our arrival. Â I walked right up and planted a big one on the bell, right in front of them. Â I undoubtedly gave the leaders a topic for discussion around the evening campfire so it was a pretty good day in my book!
On the way back from the lighthouse, we spotted this sign which struck us as really funny…I am not sure that folks want to think of their congregation as “the slow church” in most cases, but one church, at least, was proud of it!
I say hats off to people who do whatever it is that suits them, be it licking a bell or going to slow church!
Too funny! And yes, I’m sure you gave the girl scouts a good discussion…..

Poor Emily. Just got caught up on your blog. That is great you’ll be a part of not dabbling in the normal. I must say I really appreciated the picture of you & Emily on the day they went back to school. Exactly how we felt!

Just saw on the news that they pulled an old bell off of the ocean bottom in Jersey… sounds like a field trip for you!

Hey, were you that kid in school I was always having to pull loose from the monkey bars in the winter?
Hey-I know you have a recipe for this-pickled jalapenos. I have been roasting my tomatoes all weekend and freezing them for winter sauces, but I have a ton (literally-I weighed the things) of jalapenos that I want to pickle and have found about 1342.4 recipes for. Thought you might have a good one.
