We did a lot of canoeing growing up, but somehow my brother got our little red canoe! We just came into possession of two awesome little kayaks, though, so that might fit the bill. Brenda – this weekend is the Tour the Coal float. I’ve never participated but I understand it’s a lot of fun. We always go on vacation when it runs though…

We drove through Coal River Road today and I saw a sign about Tour the Coal. This was out near the Lower Falls. There may be a tour for canoe’s down the Coal River.

We’re going to the beach but we’ll go canoeing again soon after we return. I figure we’ll get kayaks when the kids get a little older…I can’t wait!

The Coal is definitely more scenic than the Kanawha (cleaner too, I would suspect). Glad you had fun – it looked really nice.

We live within 10 minutes of the Shenandoah and don’t get out nearly as much as we would like.
Our canoe is covered with wild grapevines since we haven’t used it for so long!
