Does it get any better than this?
Isaac has been a great reader since he learned how a few years ago. Even as a toddler, he loved for us to read to him. He memorized lots of books and knew when we left words out. His memory remains phenomenal and he is really great with words, spelling, reading, etc. This summer, he read almost constantly. We frequently have to fuss at him to stop reading so he will eat. Even then, he prefers to read while he is eating. He is currently reading Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, Inkheart and The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling, and a StarWars Jedi novel he checked out of the school library. 
Needless to say, I love to see him enjoy reading so much but occasionally he needs to get nourishment and a bath. Anyhow, he loves to read and I really enjoy these pictures of him. I really think that his Mother would read like this if I didn’t make her do other things occasionally. I really love to watch the two of them read together. Emily make excellent voices for each character and Isaac hears nothing else but her voice. Isaac reads to his sister some also. We have a couple of wing backed chairs and they curl up together (somehow) on one of them and will read all sorts of books. The imaginations in our house are sometimes crazy but always awesome to behold. The kids have no problem visualizing other worlds and amazing creatures in their play. They don’t mind running around outside together reenacting scenes from their books, fighting off villians or embarking on a galactic voyage to save the Universe. It just doesn’t get any better than this!
Ah! A reader. That was me at that age, a voracious reader. My dad and the libraries couldn’t keep me stocked in enough books. I love his current reading list….. and am a bit jealous actually!
Wonderful. I smiled through this whole post. I also noticed the Mountain Dew ball cap. Love of caffeine products starts early, doesn’t it?
For me, being lost in a book is one of the most wonderful feelings in the world.
That is great. My kids enjoy reading but not like that.
Fantastic book list! I can’t wait until my kids are old enough for that level of books. I can still remember reading Bridge to Terebitha. Has he finished it yet? (Sniff!).
He’s a great kid and will be an incredibly interesting adult I think. He’s a good mix of fun and smarts…just like his dear old dad…HA! Anyhow, he does love caffeine though he rarely gets any. I don’t think he is ready for the Mt Dew out of body experience. Emily likes to read books one at a time, but Isaac and I both read a number of books at the same time. I don’t think he has finished Bridge to T yet. He’s been into the Star Wars books this week.
Yea for reading! I like his book list too. Have him read “A Time for Andrew” by Mary Hahn. It started a marble craze at my school, and it is a gret read.
Thanks Don! I will definitely get the book. My wife belonged to “the book club” in her old school. Teachers would read kids’ books and review them as possible additions to the library. She has a huge collection of kids’ books. She buys about every Caldecott and Newberry book (basically, anythig with an award stamp). It is amazing what quality there is in children’s books!
He sounds like a great kid! It’s admirable, his love of reading, in the electronic world we live in today. He may enjoy the Charlie Bone Series also, it’s an easy read and alone the line of The Harry Potter books
How great that he loves to read – our daughter and I are the same way. I never say no to books – there is so much out there to absorb and learn. Now if she would just figure out this math crud….all would be well. Wonder if I can get a grade from school for helping her and doing Math right along with her every night.

Hey Kris, I suppose you might talk them into a grade but you’d have to remeber to bring your milk money at lunch time. School is tough these days…good, but tough
